Three Lakes High School donates kitchen and sewing items to Sunshine's Free Will Store.
The school's Family Consumer Science Program teaches life skills relating to household domestic tasks such as cooking, sewing, parenting, and family budgeting - skills that are fundamental to real life success. High school courses in this program help students build a strong foundation in these areas.
This nine-week introductory course provides students with a solid base in two primary areas: Textiles and Food/Nutrition. Some of the classes offered include Foods I and II, Family Living, Independent Living, Interior Design and Fashion Merchandising. In addition, students gain valuable knowledge in managing checking and debit accounts, communication skills, resume writing, interview techniques, insurance basics, credit card use and trip planning.
The curriculum also explores the history of handmade products before the Industrial Revolution, with learning canning, quilting, crocheting and knitting.
We believe that with schools teaching basic living skills that helps students navigate through life, they will make good choices and be less likely to become homeless.
Thank you, Three Lakes High School, for choosing to make a difference through your donations and helping us create a positive change in the lives of the less fortunate.
